Vikings Jinxed By Website – 45 Points

NFCChampsThe Vikings prematurely published a page on their website declaring they had won the game, prior to them actually playing the game.  Oops.

As any sports fan worth his salt can tell you, that is a guarantee that you will lose.  It’s up there with the Madden Curse in fame and certainty.

It wasn’t a PQE already, but I think that’s worthy of some points.  It’s definitely stupid, and we feast on stupid events in the NFL.

So… 45 Points to Vikings owners.

Does the jetsshop.com posting of AFC Championship gear the week before Colts-Jets also count for this PQE?

  2. Commissioner says:

I wasn’t intending to award points for that… for two reasons. One, the Colts had the same kind of thing on their website… and two, I read a lot at the time that it was apparently standard practice to pre-sell “championship” gear like that.

Posting a page on your website that you’ve won a game you haven’t played yet… seemed a little more “dewey defeats truman” to me… you know?

Makes sense. But someone at ESPN (either Page 2 or possibly Bill Simmons?) made a big deal about it being the front page of jetsshop.com for about a day. Doesn’t really matter to me, though, as I’m quite far out of contention.
