Ravens cornerback Cary Williams has been suspended 2 games for a violation of the personal conduct policy.  There is no indication at all as to what his violation was, but it happened while he was still on the Titans roster.

Shaun Rogers, of the Browns, spotted a drunk driver on the road.  So he did what any of us would have done… he called the cops and followed the drunk until the police showed up to arrest him.  The police said some very nice things about Rogers’ involvement and how they wouldn’t have been able to catch the guy without him.  That’s a pretty awesome story, and it’s hard to even find a punchline to write… but I should at least casually toss in another reference to this same Shaun Rogers arrest at an airport for possession of a firearm.  So… he may be helping to cut down on drunk driving, but he’s no friend to aviation enthusiasts.  55 points.

Am I alone in thinking that’s a strangely dangerous world for a professional football player to get involved in?  Was this part of some drug-kingpin-retirement-plan?  How do you play for the Green Bay Packers and transport cocaine on the side?  It’s kind of mind-blowing.

Regardless… the league isn’t waiting for the legal situation to unfold before making their move… and their move is about the strongest one they have in the arsenal:  an indefinite suspension.  He might be back next week (doubtful) and he might not be back until 2012 or something.  That’s kind of the definition of “indefinite.”

That’s worth 80 points though, to those of you who picked him.  I wonder… who’s transporting the cocaine and marijuana to the seedy underbelly of Green Bay, Wisconsin these days?

Regardless, he has now been suspended 4 games for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy.  Wah-wah.  That might hurt his chances at making this year’s squad too.

But… for you Fantasy UnSports players… 4-game suspensions are pure gold… and worth 45 points.  Enjoy them… if you somehow managed to put him on your roster.

Meanwhile, Hollis Thomas, himself an unsigned free agent, has also been suspended.  His is hefty–8 whole games–and it’s apparently related to a violation of the performance-enhancing substance policy.  Yikes.  Dude… you’re out half the season.  It’s going to be November before anyone signs you.  That’s worth 60 points to us, though.  Congrats folks.

And, Jets head coach Rex Ryan has managed to squeeze out another PQE from his flipping-of-the-bird incident, with the Jets organization fining him $50,000.  So now he’s earned you points by flipping the bird in the first place, apologizing for it publicly, and getting a fine.  The NFL has already said they will not add to that fine.  That’s a lot of money for the privilege of flipping someone off.  And it’s worth 30 points too.

First, he skipped Pro Bowl practice–and we are now told it’s because he was out partying at the club.  Awesome.

Then, the NFC kicked him off the roster for his violation.  Sweet.

Now, there’s not a specific PQE for this kind of lunacy.  But there’s one for “skipping practice” and another for “being benched for disciplinary reasons”, and those are both worth 25 points each.  So I’m awarding McKinnie owners (and Vikings owners) a total of 50 points for this idiots antics.  And that might not be all… they’re talking about fines now too.  Excellent.

And yes… I’m primarily going only with pictures of cheerleaders from here on out.  I’m just ashamed I didn’t think to do that earlier.  It makes reading this website 100 times more enjoyable.

Bobby McCray was fined $20,000 for his low hit on Brett Favre.

Jonathan Casillas was fined $5,000 for striking an opponent late.

And Anthony Hargrove was fined for “lifting his opponent and stuffing him to the ground,” whatever that means.

That’s 30 points each for the three players.  If you have the Saints on your roster, that’s 30 points three times for these fines.  Might have just shaken up the leaderboard there.

I’m sure the $12,000 fine will keep Mr. Hamlin from ever hitting too hard again (sarcasm intended).
