Congrats to the Saints.  Even though I was rooting for the other team, it’s hard to be upset at a Saints victory.  They are quite the deserving champions.

League MVP – Highest Scoring NFL Player In Fantasy UnSports:

Chad Ochocinco.  Was there any doubt?  All year long, Ocho kept us entertained with his singular wit and charm, from starting his own news network to creating his own iPhone app, from sending opposing players gift packs to pretend-bribing officials… Chad was “on” all season.  He earned a total of 655 for his owners, which is a huge amount.  I have a sneaking suspicion that he will be owned by about 95% of teams in next year’s game.  Chad, should you ever read this… thank you for being you… you are everything that makes Fantasy UnSports so much fun.

Highest Scoring Team Roster in Fantasy UnSports:

The Tennessee Titans with 1215 points.  Wow.  The Bengals were a close second with 1080 points–mostly due to Ochocinco–but the Titans pulled out the upset.  The AFC teams crushed the NFC teams in this particular race.

Stats:

We had 324 PQEs this season; that’s more than 2 per day.

The single highest-scoring PQE of the year was Chad Ochocinco’s iPhone App, which earned his owners 90 Points.

We had 192 players in our game–actually it was 202, but about 10 registrations were incomplete or were duplicates.  192 is a pretty good number.  I am so glad that so many of you were interested in our little game.  I’m hoping we can maybe double that number for next year.

Most Waiver Moves:  ATomOfAllTrades.  This player tried furiously to catch up at the end of the season, and only missed by 180 points.  A valiant effort, sir.  My helmet goes off to you.

Some Thoughts On Next Year:

I am definitely going to run this game again.  In fact, the next season will probably start much sooner than you think.  Instead of waiting for the start of the regular season, we’ll be starting far earlier–though I’m still deciding on when exactly we’ll kick things off.

We’re going to do away with the “double-dipping” aspect of the scoring–where players who have Ochocinco AND the Bengals roster on their team earn double the points for each of Chad’s PQEs.  We’ll have some other tweaks and changes to the scoring as well.

There have actually been some more PQEs in the last couple days.  And I’m not even talking about Michael Irvin or Warren Sapp–though those guys are making me consider allowing former players to be eligible for points in Year 2 of Fantasy UnSports.

Here’s a quick rundown of the PQEs I’ve noticed over the past couple days:

Clinton Portis publicly admitted that he lobbied his coaches to put him in and pull out his fellow running back Mike Sellers.  That’s cold, man.  Cold enough to earn points–we’re logging it under the “Criticize teammates” PQE, which is 45 points, though I could make a case that this act deserves a PQE all to itself. 45 Points to Portis and Redskins owners.

Rey Maualuga, fresh off his DUI arrest and public apology, is headed to rehab.  Good for him.  I hope he gets help for what must be a very serious problem.  That’s 35 points.  In the real world, Maualuga has been a steady screw up for a couple weeks now… in Fantasy UnSports… he’s been a gold mine.  35 Points to Maualuga and Bengals owners.

Drew Brees is teaming up with Marshall Faulk to build a state of the art track and field stadium (for football too) in one of the areas of New Orleans that is still struggling the most since Hurricane Katrina.  That’s a pretty cool thing to do, actually.  40 Points for Brees and Saints owners.

And, Jets head coach Rex Ryan has managed to squeeze out another PQE from his flipping-of-the-bird incident, with the Jets organization fining him $50,000.  So now he’s earned you points by flipping the bird in the first place, apologizing for it publicly, and getting a fine.  The NFL has already said they will not add to that fine.  That’s a lot of money for the privilege of flipping someone off.  And it’s worth 30 points too.

Good for him.  I mean, how can you not apologize for being that drunk–let alone driving while you’re that drunk.

Anyway, public apologies are always good for a few points in our league–25 to be exact.  So owners of Maualuga and the Bengals roster are now 25 points richer.

Congrats.  Here’s hoping Maualuga isn’t a complete moron the next time he gets twice-the-legal-limit drunk.  I’m sure he can afford a driver.

That’s pretty funny, actually.  And worth about 30 Points in my book.  I’m going to give it to the entire Saints roster, instead of 30 a piece for all the Saints probowlers.  So… if you have the Saints roster on your Fantasy UnSports roster, you just earned 30 points for this lighthearted prank.  Enjoy!

Well, here’s another one.  Bears linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer has joined the ranks of those giving away their grey matter when they die.  Good for you Hunter.  Maybe this research will help prevent future traumatic injures.

Or maybe it’s just a good headline.

Either way, that’s 45 Points.  (sorry, guys, but it appears the Bears don’t have cheerleaders–at least according to Google Image Search they don’t).

First, he skipped Pro Bowl practice–and we are now told it’s because he was out partying at the club.  Awesome.

Then, the NFC kicked him off the roster for his violation.  Sweet.

Now, there’s not a specific PQE for this kind of lunacy.  But there’s one for “skipping practice” and another for “being benched for disciplinary reasons”, and those are both worth 25 points each.  So I’m awarding McKinnie owners (and Vikings owners) a total of 50 points for this idiots antics.  And that might not be all… they’re talking about fines now too.  Excellent.

And yes… I’m primarily going only with pictures of cheerleaders from here on out.  I’m just ashamed I didn’t think to do that earlier.  It makes reading this website 100 times more enjoyable.

-Rex Ryan flipped some people off at some kind of MMA event.  Good for you, Rex.  You just keep on speaking your mind… even with your fingers.  That’s 45 Points.

-Then, the next day, Ryan decided to apologize for flipping the bird, saying he shouldn’t have done it.  Really, Rex?  You shouldn’t have done it?  25 Points for the public apology.

-And Chiefs cornerback Michael Richardson was busted for an open container violation of some sort.  40 Points for that one.
